A WORD OF CAUTION As an exhibitor at a trade show organized by Aude Business Events, we believe it is our responsibility to warn you about the large number of complaints filed around the world against two publications: “FairGuide” (edited by the Austrian company Construct Data Verlag AG) and “Expo Guide” (edited in Mexico). This affects trade shows organized by national and international convention centers, as well as private organizers. To achieve their purpose, the authors of “FairGuide” and “Expo Guide” contact exhibitors and request their details, including the name of the trade show in which they are participating, through a series of forms. The ambiguous wording of these forms is misleading. Many exhibitors interpret their advertising offer as another one of the services provided by the organizers of the trade show. “FairGuide” and “Expo Guide” contact exhibitors in the weeks just before the start of the trade show, when all preparations are being finalized. Forms are not written clearly and can confuse exhibitors, who believe they are being sent the forms to list their names in the trade show’s online Official Directory at no cost. However, by submitting their information they are purchasing advertising space for periods of up to three years, without the possibility of canceling the contract. Exhibitors completing and submitting these forms to “FairGuide” or “Expo Guide” will then be required to pay high advertising costs. Only the small print at the very end of the form and requiring careful reading states that the form is indeed a contract binding the exhibitor to make such payments. In order to exert pressure on companies that refuse to pay after becoming aware of the scam, the services of debt collectors, who act in collusion with the editors, are used.
