Innovations for Joint Health and Sports Recovery

UC-II® is a patented form of low-dose (40mg/day) Type II collagen supported by 4 double-blinded published studies, including healthy subjects. This unique form works with the immune system that triggers the body to rebuild collagen on its own. In addition, ZMA® will be discussed, a novel blend of minerals that optimizes the absorption and availability of zinc and magnesium for muscle growth and strength for post work-out recovery.

Pleotropic metabolic effects of a designed fiber from Allium Cepa: towards multifunctional health actions by a single compounds

Metabolic syndrome (MS) comprises an age-related condition clustering several disorders. These include central obesity, elevated blood pressure, impaired fasting glucose and a dyslipemic serum profile involving low HDL cholesterol levels and high triacylglyceride content. It is considered an accepted risk factor for type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Its origin is considered to be a mixture from genetic predisposition and environmental conditions, such as calorie intake unbalanced with low physical activity. The results reveal that Fibracep intake could help to modulate the risk of MS development, by acting on several of its components (HDL cholesterol and blood pressure). Potential mechanism of action, comprising Fibracep-derived antioxidant bioactivity and prebiotic effects will be described, explaining its bioactivity.

Latest clinical evidences showing that a propietary Lactobacillus reuteri strain can reduce the symptoms associated with a Helicobacter pylori infection

Pylopass contains a patented Lactobacillus reuteri strain taht co-aggregates with H. Pylori which is the main risk of gastritis and gastric ulcer. First published clinical data showed that it can significantly lower the H. Pylori load in the stomach. New clinical studies are looking to which extent it can reduce the symptoms alone or in combination with drugs.

From extraction of bioactives to formulation of new products

The beneficial effects of olive oil (OO) consumption on cardiovascular risk factors are recognized and attributed to the high levels of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and phenolic compounds. A case-study related with the value chain of olive oil will be used to illustrate work developed at IBET a part of it in collaboration with industry.
